Gold supported magnesium hydroxide and cerium oxide nanocomposite framework was synthesized using previously reported MgCe-HDO composite via Sol-gel method using deposition-precipitation method by stirring at room temperature for 6h and subsequent refluxing at 373 K for 30 min in presence of ammonia. XRD, XPS, SEM, DLS, TEM and TGA techniques are used for the characterization of the prepared framework. Applications of the nanocomposite was then checked by employing as a selective catalyst for Aerobic Oxidation of benzylalcohols under mild reaction conditions followed by successive condensation reactions like Knoevenagel, Claisen–Schmidt condensation. The substituted benzyl alcohols were converted into corresponding carbonyl compounds in the presence of Au/MgCe-HDO nanocomposite with O<sub>2</sub> gas and toluene as a solvent. We observed that, on the addition of malononitrile/ ethyl cyanoacetate/ acetophenone with the catalyst aerobic oxidation reaction, the reaction proceeds to yield corresponding desired condensation product up to 95 % yield.
