Palladium-Indium and platinum-indium intermetallic compounds were prepared at room temperature through the electrochemical liquid-liquid-solid (ec-LLS) method. This technique combines the merits of both melt crystal growth and electrodeposition through the use of a liquid metal alloy as the working electrode and crystallization solvent. These intermetallics were electrodeposited by applying a controlled potential to reduce metal salt precursors at the electrolyte/liquid metal interface. Concomitant dissolution, nucleation, and crystal growth then formed the intermetallic compounds of interest. Data will be presented that describes the effect the identity of the liquid metal has on the resultant materials, characterized by electron microscopy, electron diffraction, and X-ray diffraction.
