Following the legalization in many states, as well as the federal enactment of the 2018 Farm Bill, the importance of Cannabis analysis has drastically increased. With the rise in use of medicinal and recreational cannabis in the U.S., quality control is becoming increasingly important to ensure consistent product quality and consumer safety.<br/>Current methods are inefficient and use large volumes of hazardous organic solvents. Following the principles of green chemistry, a rapid, accurate, reproducible, and sensitive method was developed and validated for the quantification of 15 cannabinoids and 6 mycotoxins in cannabis flowers, concentrates, and oils.<br/>The LC-MS/MS system (LCMS-8060; Shimadzu, Kyoto, Japan) was run in multiple reactions monitoring mode with positive ion mode and negative ion mode. The column was kept at 40°C and the autosampler at 4°C. Sample solution was injected for each determination. For analysis of Cannabinoids and Mycotoxins, chromatographic separation was achieved with a Raptor ARC-18 1.8 µm 100X3.0 mm column; (Restek). The column was eluted with combinations of de-ionized water containing 0.1% formic acid and 12 mM ammonium formate (A) and 50:50 methanol:acetonitrile containing 0.1% formic acid (B) with elution gradient. LabSolutions LCMS software (Shimadzu) was used to control the instruments and to process the data<br/>Due to decreased run time and small volumes used, this method allows for a more sustainable approach to cannabis analysis. A fast, simple, and reliable method was validated for specificity, linearity, efficiency, precision, accuracy, and robustness. The validation is in compliance with international council for harmonization and Food and Drug Administration.<br/>This method can be implemented for commercial and agricultural regulatory compliance, forensic analysis, and clinical use.
