We have been exploring the synthetic utility of nickel complexes in catalyzing two useful organic reactions, namely carbohalogenation and cross-coupling of aryl halides. This lecture will discuss our recent progress in these reactions including mechanistic studies. Key elements of the carbohalogenation studies include probing the reversibility of the C-X bond-breaking and bond-forming steps.
