Olive Harvey Colleges is one the seven sister colleges within the City of Chicago College network. Olive Harvey recently developed an Urban Agriculture Department in 2021 that has a specific curriculum pathway in Cannabis Studies. The goal of the program is to offer those affected the most by the  illegal market that is now legalized, Black and Brown communities.<br/>Olive Harvey college is licensed through the Illinois Department of Agriculture in the Community College Vocational Pilot  program; this allows the institution to propagate cannabis on campus in the newly developed greenhouse on campus. Olive Harvey is currently going through the accreditation process  for developing credit based curriculum offering basic certification, advanced certification and an applied associates degrees in applied cannabis studies.  The current approved credit based curriculum in the Cannabis Studies Pathway is a Basic Certificate in Dispensary Operations, which includes approved credit based courses.<br/>Olive-Harvey College has received funding to support this program from a variety of different venues. OHC was awarded the Illinois Workforce Equity Grant in 2019, 2020 and 2021 that has provided different levels of support to the program. This includes partial funding of a greenhouse, instructor costs, consultant and marketing for program and student scholarships.  In addition, OHC has received private donations that do not have a term date and are only allowed to be used for cannabis education. These funds are being used to provide experiential learning, memberships, scholarships, instructor lectureships and administrative support. Supplies for the greenhouse and HPLC are also paid for through this fund.  Finally, OHC has an agreement with the Mayor’s Office of Chicago to provide cannabis education to 50 students a year with a cost of $1.6 million dollars to ensure students have wraparound services to support their academic endeavors.
