Pincer complexes centrally anchored by Group 13 elements possess unique and unexplored reactivity. Their Lewis acidity has resulted in exceptional regioselective bond activation for Lewis basic substrates due to the central anchor’s proximity to the neighboring metal center. Mechanistic details of this reactivity and selectivity have been explored experimentally and computationally. Unique reactivity, such as transelementation, have been observed with pincer complexes bearing Group 13 elements and have been explored for ligand design.
