Communities and transit agencies are experimenting with a variety of on-demand, flexible-route microtransit services to improve last-mile connections to transit. But what is the potential demand for these services at scale? We applied a novel travel model called BEAM to simulate a widespread deployment of on-demand shuttles throughout Santa Clara County, California. This presentation will focus on the service planning assumptions, notable results from the model, and considerations for communities who may wish to apply this type of tool or analysis to their specific context.
