Process Research and Development Team at Cambrex is challenged to quickly develop processes that are safe, sustainable, and robust with emphasis on commercial viability. This talk will focus on an API program that had been scaled up in a pilot plant at another facility for toxicity studies, but the route was not suitable for further scale up manufacture. Implementation of a quality-by-design mindset and studies incorporating the principles of green chemistry enabled evolution of the early development process into a commercially viable process.
