Few interdisciplinary course-based undergraduate research experiences (CUREs) include collaborations among students from different courses. Integrating teaching and research benefits both the students and faculty involved. This approach results in students using their knowledge as a component of a larger system to answer more complex research questions about society or the environment. Herein, three separate cross-disciplinary CUREs with their collaboration with an ecology, genetics, and criminal justice course will be discussed along with the project design, process, and student learning results. These CUREs provide hands-on research in the classroom and require students to communicate across disciplines. Excitingly, one collaboration resulted in a scientific publication with undergraduate student co-authors, enhancing the research program of the instructors.
