An ultraviolet-visible method for the simultaneous quantitative analysis of aspirin and paracetamol in a 0.1 <i>M</i> HCl:methanol (1:1) solution was implemented as part of an undergraduate analytical chemistry project. The content of these two commonly used drugs in commercial tablets could be simultaneously determined by monitoring the absorbance of paracetamol and aspirin at 245 and 228 nm wavelengths, respectively. Herein, a multiple linear regression analysis (MLRA) is used to calculate the concentration of both analytes in a range of 2 to 64 μg/mL for aspirin and 0.8 to 32.1 μg/mL for paracetamol, with a 10% of error with respect to the reported value. This method proved to be reproducible, fast and cost-effective, and easy to implement in an undergraduate laboratory course. Advantages, disadvantages and limitations of this method are also discussed.
