In this presentation we report the development of novel semiconducting polymers, as well as thin-film processing and morphology engineering, for stretchable organic thin film transistors (OTFTs), electrochemical transistors (OECTs) and circuits. Thus “soft” transistor architectures are achieved by using semiconductor films having an honeycomb architecture as the key element for enhancing mechanical flexibility and tune charge transport. These films, combined with elastomeric pre-stretching, enables unprecedentedly stable current-output characteristic upon mechanical deformation, which are used for sensing ions, analytes, strain, light, temperature and physiological parameters. Furthermore, we report novel vertical OECTs (vOECTs) with unprecedented performance for both p- and n-type semiconductors enabled by a semiconducting channel comprising newly designed redox-active and ion-permeable polymers blended with a redox-inert and crosslinkable additive in a simple vertical architecture. These vOECTs have transconductances per channel area &gt; 100 µS/µm2 (higher than any previous OECT), current densities of kA/cm2 under driving voltages &lt; ±0.7 V, and current on/off ratios &gt;106 for both p-type and n-type operation modes.
