Volumetric additive manufacturing (VAM) is a novel vat photopolymerization method that cures a three-dimensional object in a single step. Light exposure control over the chemical curing profile becomes critical to success of the part. Imaging techniques that visualize changes in refractive index of the resin during the printing process can enable researchers to monitor curing qualitatively and quantitatively in real-time but come with limitations in terms of sensitivity and chemical translatability. This talk will discuss the current state-of-art imaging techniques utilized to monitor VAM curing in real-time, as well as some ongoing work in highly sensitive phase imaging systems. Finally, we will provide some results and perspective toward real-time and dynamic feedback control during VAM.
