This presentation will report on the initial work on the entire undergraduate curriculum at a large urban public research university that serves a highly diverse student body. The program, supported by the NSF, involves course teams in general, organic, analytical, inorganic chemistry and biochemistry. Faculty teams consist of joint work of tenure-track and non-tenure track faculty. They have begun work, supported by a team involving chemists, a university center for teaching excellence, and a university office of diversity. They are focusing on revamping the descriptions of the content of their courses, beginning with alignment relative to the ACS’ Anchoring Concepts Content Map. They are also incorporating evidence-based instructional and inclusion practices. Initial plans for the first use of changes in Fall 2022 will be reviewed, along with plans for the use of action research and research on the faculty development process.
