Low-valent transition metal complexes stabilized by diphosphine ligands and carbon monoxide have been extensively studied due to their potential applications in homogeneous catalysis.  Here we report the synthesis, structural characteization (solution and solid state) of a series of platinum carbonyl complexes and their reactivity towards the activation of H-H, C-C, S-H and Si-H bonds. The products of these reactions will be reported and appropriate reaction mechanisms will be proposed.
