Polymer backbones are foundational to the physical and chemical properties of polymers. Yet, the scope of chemical methods to transform polymer backbones lags far behind the functionalization of side-chains and end-groups. This talk will focus on the strategic power of polymer backbone editing in the context of stimulus-response and polymer retrosynthesis, and showcase several methods developed in our group to enable such editing transformations.
