Inland blue holes are unique bodies of water found in carbonate bedrock. The dissolution of the carbonates has resulted in complex underground drainage systems that present themselves as small surface lakes. The Bahamian island of Andros has 178 known inland blue holes. Most blue holes have a well established freshwater lens on top of a saltwater base. The surface water level changes with tides, indicating that the inland blue hole is connected to the ocean through a series of water filled caves. Environmental parameters such as temperature, salinity, pH, dissolved O<sub>2</sub>, and turbidity vary as a function of depth. We will present data from lab-generated artificial blue holes and field data.
