Ligands based on the hydrotris(pyrazol-1-yl)borate (Tp) framework support complexes with a wide variety of metal oxidation states and coordination geometries. The modular nature of Tp ligands is commonly exploited by introducing substituents at carbon atoms of the pyrazolyl groups, but many fewer studies have examined the impact of exchanging the hydrogen bound to boron with aryl substituents. This poster describes two new phenyltris(pyrazol-1-yl)borates, with varying degrees of fluorination at the phenylborate substituent, to comparatively assess their inductive electronic impact within complexes formally containing zerovalent molybdenum, molybdenum(II), manganese(I), copper(II) and iron(II) centers.
