Collaboration with David Britt is interesting and productive. It is also a great deal of fun. Our long-standing interest in nitric oxide (NO) signaling and then later with the polysaccharide monooxygenases (PMOs) have both been natural interfaces for our collaborative work. Beginning with our first paper in 2008, that involved the studies on soluble guanylate cyclase (sGC) ferrous-nitrosyl complexes up to the present, we continue explore aspects of catalysis that are illuminated in unique ways by Dave and his students. In addition to sGC, studies have included aspects of nitric oxide synthase catalysis and most recently PMO structure and function. In all of our studies we have probed metal-radical intermediates involved in catalysis and other aspects metallo-protein function. After a quick tour of the past, newest work in out collaborative effort will be presented.
