Unlike uranium, the reduction chemistry of the other low-valent actinide metals, specifically thorium, is very much in its infancy. This talk will discuss the synthesis, characterization, computational studies, and reaction chemistry of a new class of low-valent thorium arene complexes, which serve as potent two–electron reductants.
