Over the past several years, we have become engaged in the development of an academy for green chemistry and sustainability at Seton Hall University. Our ultimate goal is the development of a green chemistry major for undergraduate students at our institution and a certificate program for both non-majors and traditional ACS chemistry majors. This far, we have developed a new course for non-chemistry majors that focuses on chemistry concepts such as the chemistry of air, water, radioactivity, polymers, environmental history, green chemistry and sustainability. We have also redesigned our undergraduate organic chemistry labs with green chemistry priniples in mind. A summer bootcamp has been run and a core course is in development. A summary of our work to date will be presented.
