The construction of polypnictogen compounds is based on the synthetic use of modifications of elements such as E4 (E = P, As) or on E1 building blocks such as PCl3 or P(SiMe3)3 for phosphorus. Besides fundamental work on P-based transfer reagents by the awardee, the talk will focus on the use of polyarsenic and polyantimony transfer agents as shown in Figure 1. Using these compounds, unusual, kinetically controlled compounds are achievable, such as bonding isomers, new aromatic systems of main group elements as well as novel polyantimony complexes. Moreover, a simple approach to asymmetrically substituted phosphines will be presented.
