The Forensic Chemistry division of the ACS Inter Ponce student chapter is dedicated to combining chemical methods and research techniques in the field of forensic sciences. During the school year, different activities with demonstrations are organized to impact our university community. These demonstrations are also held outside the university campus in a way that allows us to teach young people and children how science and, in this case, chemistry is part of a criminal investigation. So, in an interactive way and in contact with the students we recreate from the crime scene to the collection and processing of evidence so that the students see how science is applied in the forensic field. Part of the dynamic is to emphasize the importance of chemical analysis of collected samples such as DNA and serology, blood patterns, soil analysis by pH measurements and the chemical development of fingerprints to solve a criminal case. This school year we focus on reinforcing the professional development of our members by providing lectures on the application of science in an investigation, workshops on the correct use of laboratory equipment and the importance of good evidence processing and chemical analysis. Crime scenes are also recreated for students to put into practice what they have learned in class. Community service and teamwork are a fundamental part of the division. For this reason, together with other student organizations, we have visited children's home to bring science in a fun way. Currently we continue to work on training our members and promoting our forensic chemistry division, the bachelor's degree in applied chemistry and forensic science program. As a division we represent our institution with honesty, respect, and pride.
