Iminosugars are nitrogen-containing sugar analogs that are investigated for their high pharmacological potential. Iminosugars generally are classified by four structural backbones pyrrolidines, piperidines, pyrrolizidines, and indolizidines. This synthesis aims to create tetrahydroxylated indolizidines <b>1</b> and <b>2</b> by introducing an anti-dihydroxylation step into a previously successfully synthesis of Lentiginosine.
