A new method inspired by cationic palladium in activating highly hindered acid anhydrides is described. This new acylation protocol is very efficient and require low catalyst loading at room temperature. This new method has been extended to different alcohols and carbohydrate-derived polyols to yield the corresponding esters in good to excellent yields.
