Plastics are difficult to decompose, and they exist in various ecosystem accounting for a significant pollution and causing considerable concerns. Therefore, biodegradable polymers derived from biomass have attracted considerable attention in recent years. Among biodegradable polymers, Poly(butylene adipate-co-terephthalate) (PBAT) is one of the most promising alternatives to conventional petroleum-based polymers. PBAT has been commercialized by esterification and polycondensation reaction of adipic acid, terephthalic acid , and butanediol using polyester manufacturing technology. In addition, it has been considered to have desirable properties and competitive cost to replace general plastics.
