The nanoGoch group focuses on synthesizing and characterizing nanomaterials, specifically integrating various types of nanoparticles into nanoclusters. While other previous studies have been able to synthesize multifunctional nanoclusters, less is known about the mechanism of synthesis. Thus, maintaining uniformity remains a challenge. This study seeks to systematically build an understanding of each step of the nanocluster synthesis. The reactions of each step are characterized by qualitatively analyzing the gas byproducts of the individual steps with gas chromatography (GC). Developing a better understanding of the synthesis is a crucial step in controlling and modifying the resulting nanoclusters.
