Transient absorption (TA) spectroscopy, also known as flash photolysis, is a pump-probe spectroscopic technique for the study of the photogenerated singlet and triplet excited state absorption energies and associated lifetimes of molecules, materials, and devices. Edinburgh Instruments’ LP980 Spectrometer combines spectral (from 220 nm up to 2.5 µm) and kinetic (from ns to s) TA measurements in one spectrometer, using an ICCD camera and a PMT, respectively. Different spectrometer configurations are also provided depending on the potential application, including diffuse reflectance and laser-induced fluorescence (LIF) sample holders. Data acquired on a LP980 Spectrometer will be presented. These include spectral and kinetic TA traces of TiO2 and TiO2 with variable content of reduced graphene oxide (rGO). The samples were excited by a 5 ns pump pulse from a Nd:YAG laser and probed at different time delays after excitation with a 6 us Xenon lamp in pulsed mode.
