Working in an R&D laboratory requires critical thinking that consists of analyzing, evaluating, and connecting the results of analyses. The ability to understand and solve real-world problems hinges on experienced analysts leveraging their critical thinking skills and industry knowledge honed through years of experience. For early-career professionals, extracting this knowledge from more seasoned chemists proves invaluable. The knowledge younger analysts can glean from their experienced peers centers on how best to utilize the tools and techniques available. Knowing which techniques in “The Analytical Toolkit” are most appropriate to establish facts and understand phenomena is a fundamental skill which allows an analytical team to provide the most value to an organization. This talk focuses on navigating complex samples by making full use of the “The Analytical Toolkit” and the necessary collaborative efforts that come with doing so.
