Our research group has recently synthesized a library of novel sulfonamides derived from polycyclic hydrocarbon scaffolds. In the initial library, the aromatic unit of the sulfonamide was varied in an attempt to investigate how that segment of the molecule contributes to the overall biological activity of the compound. In order to determine the antiproliferative activity, the compounds were screened against a variety of different mammalian cell lines including U-87 (glioblastoma), A549 (lung cancer), and MCF10A (non-cancerous lung cells) using commercially available CellTiter-Glo and CellTiter-Blue assays. A comparison of the assays and the results from the screening of the compound library will be presented and discussed.
