The Outreach Committee at Arrakis Therapeutics has a mission to provide underserved communities with greater access to growth and career opportunities within biotech, and to foster deep, rich relationships through mentorship and personal connections.  Our partnership with the Jewish Vocational Services (JVS) in Boston has aided this mission by helping us to prepare and empower individuals to find employment within the scientific community, and to build and expand their network. Students participating in this program generally do not speak English as a first language and are transitioning from another field of study entirely. Through a series of events including an interactive lab tour, panel discussion, and mock interviews, we provide a safe, intimate environment that exposes participants to cutting-edge science and challenges them to gain confidence in their language and interviewing skills. By meeting participants at the crossroads of classroom learning and real-life industry practices, we help highlight some of the important tools for their newfound career ahead.  Throughout our talk, we will highlight the creation of the Arrakis Outreach Committee, our approach to partnership development, and how we created an ecosystem that mutually benefits Arrakis employees and JVS students.
