Green chemistry is concerned with the reduction or elimination of hazardous substances from chemical products and processes, including their design, manufacture, use, and disposal. Green chemistry applies to all stages of a chemical product's life cycle. Nylon 6-6 is a common material found in clothing, tires, and mechanical equipment. Due to the widespread use and demand, industrial production of nylon 6-6 can be hazardous to the environment. Zinc, the main metal catalyst used in the first step of nylon 6-6 synthesis, has been discovered to be depleted in 50-100 years. The goal of this research is to develop an alternative synthesis of nylon 6-6 that uses a different metal catalyst and alternative green and sustainable technologies. Our primary focus will be the first step in the 5-step nylon 6-6 synthesis, converting trans-dibromocyclohexane to cyclohexene. Previous research discovered that iron was a good substitute for zinc. This study will look into whether ferric oxide, aluminum, or copper will be better alternatives to iron to further reduce the hazardous waste generated by the industrial production of nylon 6-6. This procedure can also be performed outdoors with a solar-reflective dish and a water-saving condenser. By using solar energy as the primary heat source, the amount of electricity required to complete the necessary chemical reaction is reduced
