1-Trimethylsilyl-1-alkynes are readily prepared from terminal alkynes by treatment with nbutyllithium followed by treatment with trimethylsilyl chloride which smoothly undergoes hydroboration with dichloroborane and dimethyl sulfide complex in the presence of boron trichloride within the process. The resulting hydroborated product is then treated with 1,3- propanediol to form the corresponding boronate esters containing trimethylsilyl moiety. This reaction is then subjected to Suzuki Coupling with 4-bromotoluene in the presence of 1,4. dioxane potassium carbonate and tetrakis (triphenylphosphine) palladium. The reaction mixture is refluxed for 3 hours. After stimulation, the products are isolated in 72-80% yields and the purification of the compounds by Column Chromatography and structural determinations of compounds are currently in progress.
