My father is a carpenter and gave me my first hammer when I was 5 years old. Since then, I have always enjoyed the idea of building. The talk will cover my scientific journey, which has evolved from building complex natural products to building teams to tackle drug discovery challenges in neuroscience. Key to my successes have been the presence of strong mentors at each stage of my career. The scientific content presented will highlight different Medicinal Chemistry vignettes from my years at Amgen and Biogen. Interspersed within the scientific content will be examples where I have had important learnings from mentors and coworkers that led to additional opportunities or advancement and improved my scientific leadership skills.
