shrinking particle model (SPM) and shrinking core model (SCM) were modified to describe the kinetics of heterogenous enzymatic degradation of polyesters. This model is able to predict the time-resolved conversion of the substrates considering three distinct steps involved in enzymatic degradation. These steps are enzyme-polymer intermediate formation, enzymatic bond cleavage, and enzyme diffusion through the layer of degraded substrate (only for SCM). To provide time-resolved measurements of conversion of microparticles, degradation was performed using novel microfluidic devices. Microfluidic devices sucessfully trapped several microparticles separate from one another during the course of degradation. The proposed model was validated against degradation of PCL and PBAT microparticles (15- 25 um in diameter) by cutinase enzyme from <i>Humicola insolens</i>. Degradation of PCL microparticles followed SPM model and its kinetic was found zero order. On the other hand, SCM model applies to the degradation of PBAT microparticles with a first order kinetics.
