The O(<sup>3</sup>P)-initiated oxidation of 2-methoxyfuran was conducted by tunable vacuum-ultraviolet synchrotron radiation at the Advanced Light Source (ALS) of the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory. Reaction species data were collected by multiplexed photoionization mass spectrometry at 4 and 7 Torr and temperatures of 298, 550, and 700 K. Atomic oxygen addition onto the unsaturated carbons of 2-methoxyfuran led to the formation of products at m/z 42, 54, 56, 58, and 86. Mass-to-charge ratios, time traces, and photoionization spectra for each of these products have been obtained and used for identification using software Igor Pro 8 and Gaussian. Additional potential energy surface scans of the products are being produced through electronic structure calculations to confirm their formation. Currently, preliminary matched products are ketene and cyclopropane (42), 1.2-butadiene (54), methylketene (56), glyoxal (58), and methyl propenoate (86).
