Glycerol-derived compounds (GDCs) offer broad options to replace petroleum-derived substances used throughout chemical process industries with solvents that are at least partially derived from biomass. CO<sub>2</sub> capture processes, a key component of global decarbonization efforts, could represent a major end use for GDCs. DMPEG (the solvent used within the Selexol process) is structurally similar to GDCs but is manufactured from petrochemicals. This presentation will detail our work on applying GDCs for CO2 capture processes using both experimental and computational approaches to optimize molecular designs.
