Metal catalyzed couplings that oxidize two substrates to generate one or more C-C, C-O, C-N, and C-S bonds will be discussed with a focus on copper catalyzed processes.  The use of parallel microscale screening and computation is utilized to drive the development of selective and efficient catalysts for such processes.  Applications include use in total synthesis and conjugation of biomolecules.
