Considering that the properties of cellulose nanocrystals (CNCs) depend upon their supramolecular structures, it is important to understand the structures in order to use the CNCs more effectively. In this presentation, CNCs produced using 64% H<sub>2</sub>SO<sub>4</sub> from pulp, aspen tension-wood (TW), and tunicin will be compared using AFM/TEM, Raman, XRD, and TGA. The order of CNC-crystallinity was tunicin &gt; TW &gt; pulp, indicating that TW-CNCs were much more crystalline compared to pulp-CNCs. The reasons for this will be discussed during the presentation.
