Direct Ink Writing (DIW) or Robocasting is an Additive Manufacturing (AM) is “3D” printing method where non-thermoplastic liquid “inks” are extruded from a nozzle and solidified to prepare precisely architectured solid shapes.  This method has been used for ceramic structures, typically by using colloidal inks to prepare near net shape ceramic parts.  Ceramic Matrix Composites (CMCs) are composites where fibers, typically carbon or ceramic, are loaded into a ceramic matrix and is used in the aerospace industry due to their excellent high temperature strength, creep and other properties.  Here we present work on DIW AM of CMCs.  Discontinuous C/SiC CMC was successfully fabricated and multiple layups tested.  We present microscopy and four-point bend with Weibull statistics.
