Cal/OSHA’s revised rules for lead 8 CCR 1532.1 (Construction), 8 CCR 5198 (General Industry) and 8 CCR 5155 (Air Borne Contaminants) are set to go into effect on January 1, 2025. There are requirements in the revised standards that will require increases in exposure assessment air sampling, work blood lead level sampling, and all the associated administrative tasks aligned that must document the employers actions. The new permissible exposure limits and action levels will also require the use of more expensive laboratory analytical methods. Planning ahead for next year may offer proactive solutions to the inevitable changes to come.
