Non-randomized comparative evidence can be considered in HTA when direct evidence from RCT studies is unavailable, leading to evidence gaps. In such cases, the German Federal Joint Committee (G-BA) may require manufacturers to conduct routine practice data collection (AbD), typically through prospective registry studies. However, this process presents significant challenges. As of October 2024, 16 AbD procedures have been initiated, revealing both methodological and practical complexities in meeting the G-BA's stringent requirements while implementing the AbD studies in existing indication-based registries, which is the focus of this research.
