•CF is one of the most common genetic disorders in the Caucasian population, with estimates of 100,000 patients worldwide.
•Recent studies have shown elevated rates of both depression (10% in adolescents and 19% in adults) and anxiety disorders (22% in adolescents and 32% of adults) in individuals with CF.
•The presence of depression and/or anxiety may be associated with worsening lung function, poor treatment adherence, and increased healthcare utilization.

Impact of Depressive and Anxiety Symptomatology in Individuals with Cystic Fibrosis: A 15-year Retrospective Data Review Study

Autism Spectrum disorders (ASD): Characterized by persistent deficits in social communication and social interaction across multiple contexts along with restricted, repetitive patterns of behavior.
Despite steadily increasing prevalence rates of ASD, clinicians and families struggle with lack of effective pharmacological treatments for managing core ASD symptoms.
Risperidone and Aripiprazole: Approval to treat irritability and aggression in this population, yet, inconclusive or negative research to pharmacologically treat core ASDs symptoms.
Recent research: Hypothesized association between ASDs and Alzheimer’s disease, as evidenced by high levels of sAPPα (secreted α form of the amyloid-β precursor protein) in some children with autism.
Abnormalities in cholinergic system in ASD with variations in nicotinic and muscarinic receptors reported along with abnormalities in brain glutamate metabolism in individuals with ASD.
Given the slowing in disease progression associated with use anti-dementia medications, these agents have received interest as potential options for treating patients with ASD.
In this poster, we review the currently available literature on the off-label use of cholinesterase inhibitors and NMDA antagonists in the ASDs population.

Are Anti-Dementia medications effective in Autism Spectrum Disorders?  A review of the current evidence.

•Health disparities in race, gender, household income and socioeconomic status (SES) have been linked to the incidence of Asthma.
•Psychiatric disorders, such as Attention Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), have also been shown to correlate with asthma.
•Previous research: Children with asthma are 3 times more likely to have attention and behavioral problems than children without asthma.
•Hypotheses about the etiology of the ADHD/Asthma correlation range from attention deficits caused by severe and chronic asthma symptoms, to adverse effects related anti-asthma medications.
•Understanding the moderators affecting the asthma-­ADHD comorbidity will be beneficial in enhancing efforts to improve clinical treatment of both pediatric asthma and ADHD.
