Morressier announces partnership with Clear Skies to bring paper-mill detection to submission workflows

Berlin, London, Washington DC, Jan 16, 2024 – Morressier, the company transforming scholarly communications, today announced a strategic partnership with Clear Skies, specialized in paper-mill detection. The collaboration introduces a powerful paper-mill detection tool to the Morressier platform, reinforcing the company’s commitment to support the scholarly community in maintaining the highest standards of research integrity.

Morressier users now have access to advanced paper-mill detection, seamlessly integrated into the platform to help identify fraudulent content produced by paper mills, quickly and at scale. It is currently integrated into the Morressier platform and will be available in Journal Manager, a state-of-the-art journal submission system under development, with IOP Publishing on board as the first major client. 

A paper mill is a company that produces and sells fraudulent manuscripts that resemble genuine scholarly articles. With the increasing sophistication of generative AI models, along with the increasing scale of publication under open-access models, the fraudulent content they produce poses a considerable risk to the academic record, spreading misinformation and putting extra pressure on editors and peer reviewers, as well as increasing costs for publishers.
